The Dirt on Iowa Land Auction Prices – September 19-25, 2015

Published on Sep 29, 2015 by Peoples Company

Greetings! This is my first weekly summary of past-week land auction results within the state of Iowa. Next week, Peoples Company will be providing the results of the land auctions that occurred in Iowa during the month of September.

Of the farms that were auctioned this past week, September 19-25, 1,174 acres of farmland were sold at public auction. Of the total acres, there were 1,081 tillable acres. A couple of auctions appeared to be weak, but for the most part the market is stable.

The market appears stable-to-strong in counties with a lot of livestock production, and have had very few farms come up for sale. Several of the successful bidders were 1031 / investor buyers. All farms were sold. There were two “no sales,” yet these were successfully negotiated after the auction.

The Peoples Company Appraisal team calls to verify every sale used in our analysis. Please check back next week for more dirt on weekly and monthly land prices.
